Match report Fareham Festival Nov 15th 2015

It was a day of mixed fortunes for the minis first festival at Fareham today. A large number of games were played in blustery conditions. Regardless of teams all players conducted themselves in a very sporting manner and represented the club well. Thank you to Tom Brixey who stood in to coach the Unders 8’s, as Kevin could barely walk having picked up his own hockey injury.

Under 8’s – Tom Brixey

The under 8s started their tournament season with a great performance at the Fareham festival. Some of the team were new to festivals and many have played for a few years. The team, most of whom were part of the Bears team last year, have really improved and did very well with some great passing, determination and good goals. The festival started brilliantly with some excellent passing moves involving the midfield players Aaron, Henry, Wilf, and Robert. The games got tougher as the festival went on and the defence got busier with great tackling from Olivia, Hannah, Reuben and Peter. The goals kept coming though mostly scored by Charlie with a few from Henry who was also tenacious in his midfield tackling. The team did really well and had lots of fun. They are very much aiming to build on this great start to the year with more hard work at training and by doing even better in their next festival. Thanks for the new shirts these looked great and made the team look like a proper hockey side, thanks to Jon for all his help and get well soon to coach Kevin!

Under 10’s

Havant Tigers should be congratulated for their perseverance today.  Although a win remained elusive they kept pushing, improved with every game and eventually Tristan managed to put in a goal which was much appreciated by both his team and their parents. The festivals are all about match practice so forget the results, keep your sticks down and just use every opportunity to get stuck in and have a go. Well done to Georgia who was playing in her first festival with the under 10’s.

Havant Lions today managed to pull off a complete set of wins. Something that hasn’t been done by Havant minis at a festival for quite some time. It was a brilliant team performance with some brave defending by Nikhil and Ross (who even used his head to stop the ball!) quick, accurate, passing to get the ball down the pitch, lots of great crosses in and superbly executed finishes. very well done to you all keep up the good work.
