U10s in cold and wet Chichester

The U10s braved a rainy and windy day (again) in Chichester on Sunday 17th.  The team started strong with a 1 – 1 result against Haslemere; an outstanding goal from Matt (even though he was exhausted from fighting off a bug!), from a fabulous pass by Harriet.  Harriet also scored a goal of her own against Chichester A later on in the tournament.  The team has developed significantly over the last few weeks and you could really see the difference in their performance.  They work as a team, put in strong tackles, chase the ball down, demonstrate excellent use of the skills we’ve been practicing, and show much more awareness of where they should be on the pitch.
My player of the tournament goes to Seb who was relentless, constantly chasing the ball down and fearlessly tackling, even one boy who was literally twice his size!  Everyone, without exception, played outstandingly well though and should be proud of their performance on the day, and the visible improvement they’re making every week.  Good luck at Havant next week!

Unbeaten 8s in cold Chichester

Well done to the Chichester tournament squad today who enjoyed an unbeaten run in miserable conditions. Those of us training at Havant enjoyed a great session, probably the most energetic session of the season with Indian dribbling, 360 degree turns and a 9-9 draw at the end! Tournament teams for next week will be posted shortly … we have tried to make sure every member has played today or next week and apologies in advance for anyone who is rested next week.

More pain but lots of gain for the Eights

Havant bravery in the minis … with injuries to Sam (lip), Doug (trapped nerve), Danny (guilt ridden for injuring an opponent), Amelie (frost-bite) and even Immi (knee) … we battled hard and managed to scrape a 2-1 win against Portsmouth with the goal of the tournament from Sam after excellent dribbling from Danny. In my straw poll of 5 players and parents, Ben was voted man of the tournament for his brilliant interceptions and passing with notable mentions to Amelie for her poaching up front and Fred for his much improved tackling.

Battle hardened troops

Immi's knee ... a proper hockey injury

Genuine pain
