The Captain of Great Britain’s Bronze Medal winning Hockey Team Kate Walsh, and one of this countries most capped players, Helen Richardson, will open the club’s new pitch and facilities at Havant College on Sunday September 9th.
When approached the Bronze Medal Winners said, “We will be delighted to come to Havant and help on the day, and will be pleased to sign autographs and have photographs taken with Youngsters”.
Havant Hockey Club have invested heavily in new facilities during the summer, spending over £300,000 on a new artificial playing surface, which is the same as that used at the recent Olympic Games, although ours is Green and Blue, not Pink and Blue. £30,000 has also been spent on new floodlighting, which is the very latest design, and will mean less glare and overspill into the local environment.
The Opening ceremony will take place at 2pm on September 9th, but the day will also feature teams from every section of the club, starting with a veterans mixed match at 10am. The Minis and Juniors get their chance to star at 1.30, and at 2.30 a match will feature the present Havant Men’s first X1 against a selection of former club players.
Everyone is welcome on what should be a very exciting and memorable day. Put the date in your diary, and bring your family, and friends.
